When Hurricane Helene changed life across Western North Carolina, the needs in our community were immediate, personal, and overwhelming.
Homes were damaged. Roads were gone. Businesses were interrupted. Families were displaced. And for many people, routine needs like dental care quickly became impossible to prioritize.
From October 2024 through December 31, 2024, Zoe Dental provided more than $50,000 in donated dentistry for people who were catastrophically impacted by Hurricane Helene, as well as emergency response workers serving throughout our area.
It was one way we could help care for the community that has cared for us.
Supporting Patients Impacted by Hurricane Helene
For those directly affected by the storm, dental pain, infection, broken teeth, and urgent treatment needs did not pause just because life had been turned upside down.
During the recovery period, our team provided donated dental care for patients facing significant hardship after Helene. These were not abstract needs. These were neighbors, families, workers, caregivers, and community members trying to move forward while carrying the weight of a disaster that affected every part of daily life.
Our goal was simple: remove one more barrier for people already dealing with too much.
Caring for the Emergency Response Workers Who Cared for Us
We also opened donated dental care to all emergency response workers in the area.
These were the people showing up while conditions were still unsafe. Firefighters, EMS teams, law enforcement, linemen, rescue crews, medical teams, volunteers, and others who stepped into the hard places when Western North Carolina needed them most.
Many were working long hours, missing sleep, supporting devastated families, and helping restore basic safety and access across the region.
Offering dental care was a small way to say thank you in a meaningful, practical way.
Community Care Is Part of Who We Are
At Zoe Dental, community support is not something we treat as separate from patient care. It is part of the same commitment.
Dentistry is personal. It affects comfort, confidence, health, and quality of life. After a disaster like Hurricane Helene, access to care matters even more.
We are grateful to our team for the time, skill, and compassion they gave during this season. We are grateful to the emergency response workers who carried so much for our region. And we are grateful to be part of an Asheville community that continues to show what resilience really looks like.
As Western North Carolina continues to recover, we remain committed to caring for people with the same thoughtfulness, dignity, and compassion that guide everything we do.
